Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

For my entire digital photography experience, I have used prime lenses 90% of the time. I prefer them for several reasons. I like fast lenses because I often find myself taking pictures in low light and bokeh is fun too. I like the limitation of a fixed frame because I know what I'm getting. And, most prime lenses, at least for Fuji cameras, are smaller than zooms which is also nice.

Because I'm getting deeper into landscape photography, I've had to come to terms with zoom lenses. They are a necessity. The first zoom lens I purchased is the Fujinon 10-24mm f4.0 and it's a nice lens. I'm still not sure how to approach ultra wide compositions yet, but I'm working on it. I did decide that a mid range zoom is more my style, at least currently so I bought the Fujinon 16-80mm f4.0 lens. I love the promised versatility of this broad range of focal length. Hey, if you're gonna use a zoom, might as well go all the way, right.

The FedEx man delivered the 16-80 today which I purchased from mpb.com. I had to try it out at a family dinner this evening (at a very unique restaurant) and I have to say, I love zooming. It's so fun. In the past, I didn't like zooms but now I do. Something has changed. Anyway, I'm looking forward to using this lens for landscapes in the future as well as my general outdoor adventures. I think it will do me right.
